Internal Carpentry Project Brief
1
In their quest for an impactful room divider, the client envisioned a distinct solution for an existing opening.
Their primary aim was to create a clear boundary between the pool room and the living space, particularly during social gatherings or events, ensuring undisturbed enjoyment of the living area by the family.
With this specific requirement in mind, achieving precise panel fitting was imperative to not only reduce noise transmission but also to minimise any disruption to the tranquillity of the living space.
Prior Considerations
After communicating with the client, they informed me that several other contractors had taken a look at the space and said nothing could be done. This was due to a load-bearing existing opening space and the fact it was an unusual size.
An internal carpentry challenge like this certainly isn’t an everyday encounter, and this can often cause additional problems if not planned correctly – hence why other contractors may have felt it wasn’t worth their time.
Looking at the space and going through some initial planning, I set out to find a solution that could give the clients what they wanted.
On-site Adjustments
After sourcing a few potential options for the client, I communicated my recommendations and why.
I knew immediately after seeing the unusual size of the opening that there wouldn’t be an option that was perfect right out of the gate. Instead, I had to make some slight alterations to the framework on-site to get the right fit.
These circumstances are why I value the additional time spent communicating obstacles to the client, so they can better understand why I make recommendations or advise a particular path. In taking the extra time to make these alterations, I can ensure that the installation runs more smoothly.
Internal Carpentry Project Installation
2
The installation process proceeded smoothly, despite the challenges of this internal carpentry project posed by the unconventional size of the opening.
Given its intricate dimensions, the task proved to be meticulous and time-intensive. The primary hurdle involved repeated adjustments to ensure an exact fit, as the piece was custom-built to precision.
Nonetheless, investing extra time and exercising patience enabled me to seamlessly manoeuvre it into its designated position.
Internal Carpentry Project Final Results
3
I was highly impressed with the outcome of this internal carpentry project, as it effectively served as a prominent focal point between rooms, offering versatile functionality to either separate or seamlessly integrate spaces based on the family’s needs during various events.
The clients expressed overwhelming satisfaction, expressing disbelief at the exceptional aesthetic and functionality achieved, especially considering the initial skepticism from previous contractors about taking on the project.
This successful endeavour not only exceeded their expectations but also prompted them to entrust me with three forthcoming bespoke projects within their home. The project’s success not only enhanced the visual appeal and practicality of the living space but also garnered significant praise and referrals from satisfied clients.
Its seamless integration into the home’s layout and ability to adapt to different scenarios underscored its effectiveness as a versatile design feature. As a result, the clients’ confidence in my expertise and commitment to delivering exceptional results has led to further collaborations on future bespoke projects, solidifying a long-term partnership built on trust and satisfaction.
