Welcome to RG Carpentry & Construction Ltd, we are a carpentry-led business based in Chelmsford and working throughout Essex who specialise in high spec Media Wall Installation and Library Installation.

Project Brief: Maximising Space & Working From Home

Our client came to us not long after Covid Lockdowns, with the working office life now completely changed they found themselves working from home full time.
Living in a small apartment and working at the dining table was far from ideal and we were tasked with creating a space that would not only be suitable for working from, but also increased storage to help keep the apartment organised and tidy.
Our Client had a very clear vision of how they wanted the layout which helped us get the initial designs approved early on.
Pre Planning: Designing Ideas
Having a clear vision from our client was great, we now worked on designing the unit to be incorporated into the space, there was an existing radiator and sockets to be taken into consideration as well as a window which required careful thought.
With our initial design drawn up we met again to discuss in finer detail and provided a variety of colour samples to view from our pre finished range.
Client Liaison: Presenting Ideas & Working Together
We explained in detail exactly how each area of the unit would work and how we had designed it to fit around existing features such as the radiator and window as well as an existing TV, but to also provide ample storage for stationary and paperwork.
The final colourways were chosen as “Cashmere wood grain” and “ Dust Grey” with “Natural Oak” work surface which went together really well.
Installation: Transforming An Apartment & Creating Storage

Being in a 2nd floor apartment meant slightly more logistical planning than usual, we achieved this by manufacturing as much of the cabinetry as possible off site, including cutting and edging all the panels which meant less work to do in the apartment.
This made install easier as not only did it mean less materials to carry up the stairs, but it also kept the working space tidier and created less waste to be removed at the end of the works.

Our newly fitted unit created ample storage space, and much to our clients amazement made the room feel much larger than before.
We also managed to incorporate a secret shelving unit as an extra after discussions on site, which provided hidden storage for the wireless router and baskets for stationary.
Our client now has the perfect environment to work at ensuring productivity is no different to being in the office, it also allows the apartment to be kept presentable and organised.
