Welcome to RG Carpentry & Construction Ltd, we are a carpentry-led business based in Chelmsford and working throughout Essex who specialise in high spec Media Wall Installation and Library Installation.

Project Brief: An Art Deco Inspired Living Room Feature

As part of a wider project involving a full property renovation we were tasked with designing and installing a living room feature in the Art Deco styling throughout the rest of the property.
Our clients entrusted us to design the media wall after a small brief that they wanted it to feature an electric fire and be big enough to house an 80” TV
Pre Planning: Providing Style & Continuity
After our initial discussions we drew up some sketched ideas and sourced an Electric fire that would fit into our design well and worked in proportion with the 80”TV housing, we also provided ideas on the colourways which involved matching the finish to the Custom Kitchen Mantel we designed and installed (Hyperlink to In-frame Hicks blue Kitchen Project)
Client Liaison: Presenting Ideas & Working Together
We provided our sketches and ideas to our clients which included using the same Art Deco beading we were using on the hallway panelling (hyperlink to Book Room Green Panelling project) to provide continuity and using a 3-sided electric fire which not only made the fire more prominent but created space to include an oak display shelf to display photo frames or candles on next to the fire.
Installation: From Ideas To Reality

As the main contractor on the full house renovation we were able to install during two phases which included a 1st fix of building the framework, plaster boarding and running wires, and then finally completion of 2nd fix to include the Art deco picture framing and coving as well as the full spray finish to complete.

As part of an extremely thorough high spec renovation, it was crucial this media wall was styled in keeping with the rest of the property, it was also critical it was in proportion, being in a very large open plan space it had to be perfectly designed.
The thought and detail put into the design and planning made the finished project look amazing, and it is sure to be the perfect place to host Movie nights.
Being able to include extra features like the 3-sided fire and oak display shelf far exceeded our clients initial expectations which is always a pleasure to hear.
